Mary Doherty, whose name is intertwined with Lifeline (Inishowen) was named a 2026 AXA Community Hero for her outstanding work in the Women’s Safety and Wellbeing category. A founder of Lifeline Inishowen, she was honored for over 30 years of dedication to supporting domestic abuse victims. Mary has been the face of the project for 30 years and her dedication to building the organisation, sustaining it and working tirelessly for 3 decades will never be forgotten. She has supported so many women and families and changed their lives for the better. She received €20,000 to donate to her charity. This money will be used to continue her outstanding work for Inishowen.
