Community Safety Fund, which transforms the proceeds of crime into positive community action, has announced that LifeLine Inishowen is to receive €53,000,
LifeLine’s project, SAFE Inishowen, is about strengthening safety, access, and family empowerment, while the Greencastle Community Development will focus on empowering women and girls through education, equipment, and collective action.
The local allocations are part of a national investment of €4.84 million that will see 56 projects benefitting from the Community Safety Fund.
Welcoming the funding for the Donegal project, local Minister of State, Charlie McConalogue said: “These funding allocations are excellent news for two local groups who do so much good work in their communities, whether that is helping victims of domestic violence, tackling drug related intimidation, supporting addiction recovery or working to make communities safer.
“The LifeLine Project aims to create a stronger community response to domestic abuse across Inishowen.
“It will support individuals and families affected by abuse, particularly those living in rural areas who may find it difficult to access services.
“Through local outreach hubs, one-to-one support, safety planning, and community awareness programmes, the project will help people get support earlier.
“It will also train local guardians such as hairdressers, shop workers, and youth leaders, to recognise signs of abuse and respond safely.”
